Purchase Awards were started ten years ago. Now there are about 30 people who are purchase award providers. This simply means they have paid for a piece of art which they have never seen, and will not until a few days before the show opens to the public. At that time, they will come to choose their piece of art. They will pay 15% less than the retail price. The buyer has the option of adding more money to their original amount if they find something they like that costs more. In case all their favorites are already chosen, they may carry over their money for one year. If they don't find something that year, their money becomes one of the prizes in next year's show and we list them as it's sponsor. This part of the program has become so popular that we have had to turn prospective purchase award providers away! They get fine, original art at a discount price, more of the area's best artists enter shows with purchase awards, more people come to the show to see the exhibit and that makes our show a rousing success!

Heartland Artists has always been interested in assisting and providing art education in the schools or supporting higher art education. We give one or two art awards to Marshall County graduating seniors going on to further their art training at a college or technical school.

All of the city's third grades are bussed to the show; in addition, the high school and junor high art classes also, as do some of the other schools outside of Plymouth. They all vote for their favorite piece and we give an artist a special Young People's Ribbon based on that vote.

We feel we have one of the finest art shows in Indiana and we invite everyone to come see if they don't agree. We attract artists from the northern half of Indiana and some from nearby states.

Artists may call 574-936-8766, or e-mail Jayne to have their names added to the mailing list.
